SENIOR COMMISSIONING EDITOR
Joffe Books, one of the UK’s leading independent publishers, is seeking a Senior Commissioning Editor to expand our crime and thriller list.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic commissionnig editor to build their commercial crime fiction list, working closely with bestselling and debut authors, and help shape our crime publishing strategy.
The ideal candidate will be a voracious crime and thriller reader, and have several years experience commissioning in this space for the digital eBook market. They will be a self-starter, comfortable in a fast-paced and highly entrepreunerial environment, and have a solid track record of publishing bestsellers as well as working closely with authors.

Key responsibilities:
· Commission and acquire crime and thriller titles for publication in late 2025 and beyond, with a focus on US market growth.
· Oversee books from acquisition to publication, including editing, cover design, and blurb writing.
· Develop and grow author brands, working closely with marketing to maximize sales.
· Manage relationships with authors, agents, and industry contacts.
· Contribute to strategic publishing decisions and refine our editorial processes.
What We’re Looking For:
· Proven experience commissioning crime fiction and driving eBook sales.
· Strong editorial skills, with a keen eye for storytelling, proofreading, and commercial packaging.
· Excellent communication & negotiation skills, with a track record of fostering author relationships.
· Data-driven decision-making and a results-oriented mindset.
· Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Salary: £36-45,000 per annum (subject to experience)
